COVID-19: how the coronavirus is affecting funerals
For the moment, funeral services will continue but the risk of transmission should be minimised. Large gatherings and unnecessary physical contact needs to be avoided. Good hand hygiene needs to be maintained.
Exeter and Torquay Crematoriums are restricting attendance to up to 10 immediate family members. If you are affected by Covid-19, self-isolating, or are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 you must not come to the crematorium. Both crematoriums are offering webcasting at a reduced rate so those who can not attend can follow the service.
Churches are now closed for funerals, but graveside services with immediate family members can proceed.
We will do our best to help you plan a meaningful goodbye to your loved one within these restrictions, and will assist you to organise a celebration of life or memorial service at a later date.
We would like to reassure you that we are committed to the health and well being of everyone using our services and staff during this current situation, maintaining the highest standard of hygiene.
We are still happy for families to visit us in person at Newton Abbot by appointment, if you and your household is not self-isolating due to showing symptoms of the virus. We ask that a distance of two meters is maintained between us and ask that you observe hand hygiene when you enter our premises. Alternatively, if you are self-isolating, or if you do not wish to take the risk of visiting us, we can make arrangements over the telephone, via email or video conferencing.
We will continue to monitor the situation and if you would like any advice, please feel free to contact us at any time.
As an independent funeral director, we are able to accommodate your requests to make your service as personalised as possible. We offer anything from traditional services to a completely bespoke celebration. This includes the simplest low-cost funerals, church services, cremations, green funerals and woodland burials. We always endeavour to ensure the same funeral director will look after you throughout the arrangements.
Pre-planning a funeral is a simple way to reduce the stress and expense on your family when you’re gone. By taking out a funeral plan, you fix the cost of professional funeral directing services and once the plan is paid in full, as long as we carry out your funeral and your requirements don't change, our direct costs are guaranteed. You can also make a contribution towards third party costs and clarify the type of service you want, relieving your family of these decisions at a difficult time.
Terms and conditions apply to funeral plans - please ask for details.
